Hello! I have a question about the new MTH SD70M-2. Been thinking about ordering one. I have some old MRC TechII power packs. Do you happen to know what the minimum voltage requirement is to operate this engine.

flymanjg are you able to consist the MTH SD70 with other locos besides another MTH unit? I heard they don't consist well.

yes you can, you just have to do it using "old consisting" method.

Great vid. I had to go to my buddies club where a guy said MTH didn't consist on NCE... of course they didn't read the manual nor realized to press 1 for old style consisting on the NCE cab. Was able to consist 2 SD70M-2 and a Digitrax DCC equipped Atlas loco to show them.

@joshdillon2003 They're power hogs. I believe you'll need about 24v to run two of them. I have an MRC 260 DC power pack and it'll handle 2 just fine, but adding a 3rd kills it. My smaller MRC power supply couldn't handle 2 MTHs at all, but could run 4 KATOs all day long.

Hi flymanjg I'm just starting with American HO can you tell me why diesel engines hooked up like this are facing in opposite directions , over here in britain we would call this a double header as steam trains used to do, but would face in the same direction, secondly can you keep one loco stationary with DCC then back the other loco up to hook up!
