Paul Daniels Chimpanzee card trick

I saw that they're pretty hungry. That is pretty cruel, even for the standards of the day. If they'd been trained to do this skit, they wouldn't have been so "funny", I guess. It's always funny to look at people that aren't as cognicent as you, but they're dying out, and we've done disservice to others before. I'd hate to see chimpanzees and bonobos die out just because they're "funny." Then again, whatever. Eat them all, I say. Eat your uncle.

After the shot was done off camera, he fumed at the chimp handler discovering that the chimps were hungry. After he cooled down and saw the video he laughed like hell and it became a classic but right after the shot he was PISSED at everybody for making him look like a fool. It goes down in comedy history as one of the funniest bits with animals ever!! Remember what WC Fields said " Ah.... never work with kids or animals.....'

I had the chance to meet Paul at the McBride magic school in Vegas about 7 years ago. In his seminar on his magic career and on the business of magic,he talked about this video clip and how it happened to be. Unbeknownst to him the chimps had not been fed before going on the air. Paul did not realize that and when they started eating the 'props' his professionalism kicked in and he winged it for the duration of the card trick. part 1

One of the best TV moments ever, I remember this from years back.

You left out the very best bit of all though, where he does the Jack-in-the-Box again - successfully this time - and the chimp is startled at first, but starts grinning and laughing at the trick. I remember it being so funny, because I've never seen a chimp do that on television before or since.
