@monksters1 Gear 2nd: Maybe he was trying to imitate the Sea train (pumping fuel ie blood while giving off steam) and he realised that he was stronger.Plus he had a whole night to practice.

Gear 3rd: He already had Gomu Gomu No Balloon. So he might have applied the logic: if my fist is bigger, I can break more shit. He experimented and was proven right.

It's not hard to figure out how he created the Gears. It's not like super saiyan that takes ages to do.

he is both faster and stronger because he pumps blood at a faster rate normal humans could not take but sense his organs are rubber can withstand the strain :P it also explains why he turns red and why steam is coming from him (heat inside body rising so sweat evaporates off of the body)

i'm sorry if i rambled on to long and i hope you understand what i am trying to say :P

@TheTsugnawmi2010 actually, if you watch one of the movies, it shows him accidentally stumbling upon it in the middle of a fight. He doesn't quite utilize it, but he kinda realizes what it is.
