it continues to break my heart - thank you for the pain and the beauty

This is absolutely beautiful - a great Carolan piece played by a true genius .........

Now this finally demonstrates the Eleanor Plunket tune is beautiful, the only bad thing about it is that it's very easy so almost every player is choosing it for that reason and posts poor quality and totally boring arrangements (and playing). And this is the same on the guitar, harp or piano. But the tune itself is beautiful and it deserves much more that that!
So thank you mister, for giving us a beatiful arrangement, finally! Very nice!

Doesn't this come that compilation album that was released in the 90s?

This is just one of the tunes by Carolan which captures the very soul of Ireland. Like many of his fellow musicians Carolan was blind. In the 18th century there was a hearth tax and a window tax which resulted in the mud cabins of the poor being not just windowless but chimneyless with the smoke from the turf fire seeping out through the thatched roof. Babies lying in cradles in these rooms often went blind as a result and had to resort to music to make a living in later life.
