For some reason when we attempted him when we clicked the cubes he did not stay banished for 10 seconds...anybody know what would be the cause of this?

All 5 channelers must channel the banishing spell. If any of the 5 channelers interrupt their channeling, then he will not stay banished.

Also on a side note, Blizzard changed the fight so you only need 1 clicker per cube now :P

haha its funny i was on my warrior tank had a boomkin druid holy priest and dps dk and we 4 manned this about a month after cata came out. I was able to dodge and block almost every swing.
