The only consistent thing about alchemy is outcomes are not predictable & replicable. That’s why its alchemy. It just doesn’t work

“Chemistry didn't "begin with the Renaissance already practiced” that’s why I said transition from Alchemy to Chemistry a long, interesting journey. However it’s the scientific method on which Chemistry depends is a child of the Renaissance & enlightenment. What makes Chemistry superior over Alchemy is outcomes are predictable & replicable. Examples abound just look at modern medicine vs ‘traditional’ medicines. As to ‘science’ being seriously challenged only in the minds of the fools

Sorry, this comment of yours makes NO SENSE whatsoever.

    >And just because Alchemy doesn't actually work (??) doesn't mean there is no value in what they learnt and discovered. The transition from Alchemy to Chemistry a long and interesting journey< - is that a joke? - can you explain what that actually means. Please give details of this transition/journey. Chemistry didn't "begin with the Renaissance", it was already practiced. Your "Science" is being seriously challenged by new ideas. Wake Up!.

The 'mumbo-jumbo' of Chinese Alchemy gave us gunpowder and changed the world - like many great discoveries/inventions, it came whilst the chemist was looking for something else. This was 7-800 years before your wonderful Renaissance (It simply means 'Revival'). Chinese and Japanese are DIFFERENT from western medicine - for some reason you can't accept this. Prob'ly as you've no personal frame of reference. I have - and it works. The world is changing....and you're looking to the RENAISSANCE??!

“mumbo-jumbo of Chinese Alchemy changed the world with the discovery of gunpowder” yes it did.. and very much the precursor to Chemistry. And just because Alchemy doesn’t actually work doesn’t mean there is no value from what they leant and discovered. The transition from Alchemy to Chemistry a long and interesting journey

Correction. Sixty inoculations not per year, but during their school life. They'll then be given a 'clean bill of accepted health' - to separate them from the unclean. History repeats and repeats, the only difference being new electronic toys and haircuts.
