That's on my profile, I'm not making an argument. If you don't like what you read on my profile, that's your problem, don't read it. I didn't make any claims, so I don't need to provide any statistics. Again for the third time, it's a red herring.

If "many" is a generalisation then so is syaing that all religious people fall into two categories, violent or insecure and that one is acceptable and the other isnt. You have never once provided me with any statistics about anything so i dont see why i should provide you with any. If you refuse to answer my question by merely proclaiming it as something that does not suit your tastes then why should i answer you. The argument of freedom of speech is extremely relevant with the stance you take.

If that seems condescending to you then you are a fool. Saying "many" is a generalization. How do you know many are? Where are your statistics?

No it wasn't a legitimate question, it's a red herring.

"God doesn't exist. If you believe in god, you can either fall into one of two categories.

You are an innocent person who merely needs someone or something to make you feel safe and happy. I have no problem with these people."

Seems condescending to me. I didnt generalise because i said "many atheists" not 'all atheists', or 'atheists'.
My last comment was a legitimate question, how far does freedom of speech go? You espouse your views through it, why shouldnt others be able to? etc

No, you are generalizing. Generalizing anyone is stupid, and immature. I'm not sneering at anyone who believes in god, I'm asking for proof. I don't have to believe anything unless I'm provided evidence for those claims. And no, most european colonial powers tried to force christianity on the indigenous population.

Your last comment is a red herring.

"Someone just made up the idea of god". Perhaps, thousands of years before somebody made up the word "science" and decided what it would thenceforth describe.

Many atheists are arrogant, holding others in contempt (as you yourself clearly show on your page), sneering at those who believe there is a god, as a colonial master would let the natives believe in spirits, for want of being able to persuade them otherwise. You can say whatever you want, freedom of speech.

Including racism?

I can say whatever I want. It's my opinion. I don't think god exists, simple as that. There is no gap to fill. Someone just made up the idea of god. You can make up any god you want, doesn't mean it is true. Science didn't fail to do anything, it's an ongoing process. The science we have today is good, the science we have in the future will be better, that's how progress works. No, that is not the current belief. Your last statement reveals you don't know what atheism is.

Your page says "God does not exist", as a statement of fact. But the truth is that you BELIEVE god does not exist, as a religious person BELIEVES god does exist. Science has therefore to fill the gap where god would be. Something it has thus far failed to do. The current belief is that everything just came out of nowhere all of a sudden....hardly specific, there is also very little in the way of proof. I myself am agnostic. One of the main reasons i am not an athiest is because of arrogance.

My apologies! Sri Lanka! Or Ceylon as the Dutch christened it. Nasty business recently with the Tamils vs government and whatnot.

It's funny because the example you gave me proves my point, not yours. The concept of god is inherently unscientific, because science does not deal with supernatural claims. But even so, in the courts, intelligent design was ruled to be unscientific, but it was never disproven, because it's unfalsifiable, which is a characteristic of something that isn't scientific. A good theory has to have the potential to be falsified.
