@skinyboi2 Thank you for your response. I have traveled 747-400 and 737 first class but tough time, tough economy, I can hardly make it to buy a 777 ticket. Nevertheless I thought it might be worthwhile checking seat guru website and other factors to make the travel slightly comfortable. Sound behaves like waves if they are coherent, noise is louder so I am trying to establish where to sit where noise is low, I am going to need a thesis to get bottom of this. Thanks

This must be a B-777-200LR to be able to flight from HKG to EWR non-stop.

lot of noise??? What does everybody else think, sitting at the rear is better or on the wing in terms of noise abatement?? I will be booking my tickets soon, even though I am paying more to fly on 777-200ER, I would appreciate your input on weather to sit on rear or on wings. [Economy pax]

@esh1 I think if noise is your primary issue, then you should sit a the very rear of the plane. As for the wing mitigating some of the engine noise, I'm honestly not sure. I've never actually thought about that, so I wouldn't be able to give you a recommendation on that. Though, my assumption would still be that the rear of the plane would be quieter. And the engine noise didn't really bother at all on this trip. Sorry if that didn't answer your question.
