FORT MYERS, Fla. -- It's not often that major league teams taking batting practice any more but the Boston Red Sox did just that on Tuesday before their night game with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Manager Terry Francona and infield coach Tim Bogar took turns hitting grounders to the infielders, who also practiced cutting off throws from outfielders and throwing home.
Second baseman Dustin Pedroia was a star, shouting out calls and encouragement to his teammates.
Francona said he's not a fan of it during the regular season because of tight pregame schedules and wanting to save the arms of his fielders.
