GM 4L60E Transmission Rebuild DVD: Valve Body - Teardown

Working thru the valve body webbing, Rick goes over a proper tear down of the valve body, including the forward accumulator and solenoids. This is key to preparing for the repair or adding a shift kit to your 4L60E Transmission.

  • what is the difference between a 700R4 and a 4L60e Transmission if any at all an what is one of the best are second best Shift Kits you can put in a 700R4 I have LT1 350 Corvette motor came equipt with 330HP in the crate what is the best Torque Converter that I can use for the power that the motor is putting out

  • @windhammer357 - The 700R4 is a non electrically shifted 4 speed GM trans.

The 4L60E is basically the same transmission, but with Electronic shifting.

The 4L60E is a move descriptive model number than the previous GM names such as; TH350, TH400 and 700R4

For the '4L60E' the "4" stands for four speeds, the "L" is for a longitudinally mounted position (as opposed to the laterally mounted 4 cyl engines), the "60" is for the 60,000 gross vehicle weight limit and the "E" is electronic shifting.

  • you say next wered

  • you spelled weird, wered

  • thanks for the video! I'm gonna try to rebuilt a ford taurus trasmission myself Looks Like I'm gonna need a work bench and lots of cleaning fluid, what is best to use?? Thinner?

  • Don't use Paint Thinner for any cleaning of auto parts.

    It leaves a residue behind.

Lacquer Thinner is much better for the job, but beware, it strips paint off of anything. You should protect your skin from it as well with plenty of latex or better yet, nitrile gloves.

  • Why this is so complicated (I think about the construction not about disassembling) What a labyrinth.

You have to be a genius to design such complicated devices.
