100 Years Anniversary Retz - Drosendorf line, steam & diesel, May 15 2010

93.1420 steamer and 2143.037 diesel pulling the anniversary "Reblaus Express" trains on the long, picturesque Retz - Drosendorf line leading from Weinviertel into Waldviertel region. On the last ride of the steamer it got stuck on the grade because of not being able to get proper boiler pressure due to inadequate coal, so diesel took over after a while.

Clinkered up fire, I expect. I suppose it was some rubbish imported from China, more cheaply than they could get by using local coal. Isn't economics stupid.

That diesel sounds good, mind. Sounds very much like a BR Western class. What engine do they have in those?

They were built by SGP, sister class 2043 by Jenbacher. This one has a SGP T12c 12 cylinder engine.
