    Even those Founding Fathers who *were* Christians knew better than to try to establish their religion as an official religion for the nation. Even in those early days there were different competing churches and sects, and the only way to preserve the rights of all of them was to leave religion out of govt. altogether. The occasional nod to a "creator" doesn't change that.

    Yep. It is a common misconception. In fact, America was founded as explicitly NOT a christian, or muslim, or hindu, or buddhist nation on purpose.

    I never knew that the founding fathers DIDN'T establish it a Christian nation until I heard otherwise on Reddit.
