Four pieces by Francisco Tarrega; Prelude no 1, Lágrima, Marieta and La Alborada (Cajita de Musica) performed on a Torres model guitar made by Simon Ambridge.
Timings; Prelude 15", Lagrima 1'48, Marieta 3' 50" Alborada 7'00".
The Prelude has different numbering in different editions. It is no 1 in the 19th century edition from which I have taken it. In the Scheit Universal edition it is no 9.
Lagrima is also a prelude. ((3 in Scheit).
Marieta is a Mazurka and La Alborada (Cajita de Musica) is a musical description of a musical box, complete with imitation of the mechanism, an early example of programmatic music on the guitar.
The guitar is closely based on the Torres SE 111 made in 1887. Tarrega's last Torres was SE 114. It is made of spruce and birds eye maple. Thanks to Simon Ambridge for lending it to me for thse recordings!
Reverb information; Altiverb 6 setting Iglesia de San Miguel, Cuenca, Spain. 20%.

Beautiful playing and instrument. I'm curious about your recording. How did you mic the guitar?
What about the Altiverb? Are you pleased with it?
Kind regards

Ah wonderful playing & Simon's guitar has a sound to die for. I think you've proved that rather well, thanks for entertaining.
