Such a beautiful kata... I don't really like this version that much to be honest but I love the history of the kata and how all karate can pretty much be traced back to it

Osu, This is my next kata to learn... i originally started with Seido and now in our own style which has its history in seido and Kyokushinkai. I love the big strong stances and techniques.

We miss Sosai. Other than his incredible presence, we still need him for little things. Katas tend to "adjust" over time. One reason I wish he was still with us would be to have all Kyokushin' kata be the same. There are a few differences from the version that I was taught, but if it's practical, what's it matter. That's what I love about Kyokushin, as long as it works in a fight, we'll use it.

the movie is a little hard to read. please tell me... in 1:18 - is it jun tsunki or nukite?

@xpatdrummer hi mate. Nice words! I also practice Kyokushinkai karate and, for myself, I think karate is one of the most powerful fighting arts of the world.
I also like some fighting movies (including kung fu), but we all reconize that in the movies we have coreography (sorry, I don't know how to write it) and not real situatuions.

Looking at this style kata, kumite and kihon - I would have to say that that this is more powerful. Its generally full contact in its kumite so the kata and kihon reflect this.
I would say shotokan is slightly more dynamic in its movement. If I wanted to build up some power then this version of kanku may help, whereas the other versions offer something else.
I dont believe that either is 'better' than the other - just different
