Both of the gun that were used in the St Valentines day massacre was Colt M1921A Thompson (The one without the Cutts-Compensator) & The other one Colt M1921AC Thompson (With the cutts-compensator)

inaccurate reenactment. cops carrying auto pistols was unheard of. in 1929. they had revolvers until the 80's, and even then, it was rare for them to have auto's. the only people who had say 1911 pistols were soldiers and gangsters. those guys would flew outta there the sec they saw two cops with 1911's
