http://www.comodointernetsecurity.com The law of supply and demand also applies to hackers and their wares. It has recently been reported that the cost of botnet rental has been slashed in the past few months. Why?More malware, infecting more computers creating more and bigger botnets. As with anything else, the greater the supply, the lower the price. How does it affect you? More spam, more malware, greater vulnerability, not just to you personally, but also to the businesses and institutions you depend on, who are increasingly subject to the Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks which are performed by botnets and the criminals who rent them. The return on investment for a botnet rental is increasing. That makes renting them more appealing to more people....and so it goes.Moral of the story: We're making it too easy for these guys. Underprotected PC's are being recruited into botnets at a high and increasing rate.

  • Regarding the "Firesale attack" I believe the term pertains more to a desired outcome (total chaos and destruction) than a specific method of attack. I'm not a national security expert but such an eventuality would likely require various weapons, not all of which would necessarily even be cyber-weapons. DDOS has been used in several well publicized cyber-warfare attacks over the past few years so it might be a part of the "rogue's arsenal" See my video "Cyber Militias in Action" for more

  • Hey Melih ! I totally agree on the fact that Distributed (I think u forgot to mention this word) DOS attacks are getting easier to perform with BOtnets getting cheaper. What I was more interested in checking in this video was about the Firesale attack. You might describe this as a curiosity generated from Die Hard 4 fan, but I think that it is a type of DDOS attack. Can you clarify this for me?
