the multiplayer in ME3 will allow people to play as a Turian as one of the six playable races.

You gain something either way, it's just not the same "something." If you side with the officer and insist that the hanar is wrong, as you did in this video, you gain money.
If you side with the hanar and insist that the officer is wrong, you gain medi-gel packs.
Both solutions also get you XP as well as Paragon or Renegade points depending on whether you Charmed or Intimidated the hanar or officer.
You can also satisfy both guys by buying the hanar a permit, but that gains you nothing.
