Eva Dean Dance, in collaboration with members of Alloy Orchestra, created SONOROUS ECHO which premiered in July 2007 at Dance Theatre Workshop. This evening-length work was inspired by the night - the unconscious world of sleeping and the surreal world of sleep deprivation. Falling asleep and reawakening merges death into birth; for many, the nighttime is magical. This piece will live through peaceful calm and fear, those richly varied emotions we experience in the night. The shadows of separate worlds blend as a family plays musical beds and shrouded specters make their presence felt. Alloy Orchestra created and performs a sound score featuring the ambient noises of the night such as crickets and dripping faucets.
Costumes are by Jean Hill, who has collaborated with Ms. Dean since 1986, and lighting is designed by Zoë Klein. Dancers included Eva Dean, Marcel Dou, Maia Sage Ermansons, Kristin Hatleberg, Nicole Mannarino, and Tony Nilsson.
*The sound score created by Alloy Orchestra for Eva Dean Dances SONOROUS ECHO was commissioned by the American Music Center Live Music for Dance Program.
