In The Life Media spotlights PARIAH, a Focus Features release, one of the first mainstream coming-of-age films to feature an African-American, lesbian protagonist. It follows 17-year-old Alike (Adepero Oduye) as she discovers her sexuality and identity while struggling with the sense that she doesn't belong.
Adepero Oduye (Alike), Kim Wayans (Audrey), and Pernell Walker (Laura), along with director Dee Rees and producer Nekisa Cooper. They discuss how their own experiences relate to the characters and themes of the film, which opens in select theaters on December 28, 2011.
