  • Question - what do you squat raw? Looking at getting a centurion super+.

  • @yamanmustafa Sadly, only about 425 pounds. I am working on the Smolov squat routine and hope to break through 500 raw. I highly recommend Titan's products. And if you look at the competitors at IPF World's, you will see plenty of those lifters do as well.

  • how come most power lifters dont have well defined muscles, isnt it intuitive that having bigger muscles and more defined one make you stronger, but many power lifters are bulgy and doesnt look like they have muscles at all. not criticising just wondering why

  • @FoolishInTheEnd Also, I am a drug-tested athlete. Among pro bodybuilders, steroid use is essentially universal. Steroid use is also very common among fitness models. I assure you, the guys in Men's Health ads for supplements did not get that big merely by eating protein bars.

  • Hey guys, I am going to the university in Las Vegas and started lifting a little while ago and I live in Anchorage over the summers. I just did my first mock meet with the powerlifting team here and loved it. How can I get into competitions in Anchorage while I'm home? I also don't know about divisions or anything like that, does anybody know what division I would be in at 19 years old, 143 pounds, and I bench 215, squat 320, and deadlift 375?

  • @zbanks907 Unfortunately, there's not much going on up here in the summers for powerlifting. I would recommend looking into it in Las Vegas. If you want to check it out, visit Southside Strength & Fitness on Huffman. That is "ground zero" for powerlifting in Anchorage.

  • @rhsalaska "Only 425" isn't a bad answer at all. This just means you're getting 175lbs out of the suit and wraps. Good stuff!

  • @FoolishInTheEnd Muscular definition is a function of body fat percentage. Body builders crash down their body fat so that, by the time they compete, they are extremely lean, but quite weak. Also, body builders train for hypertrophy (muscular size), not power. Body builders will do sets of 10-15, while powerlifters do sets of 3-5. It is a common misconception that muscular size has a 100% correlation with strength. While there is obviously some correlation, it is not entirely true.

  • Your 600 squat looked good to me. You went below parallel. What federation was running this meet. Do a quick utube search for SquatPrecision. This device will detect exact legal lifts, regardless of the federation you lift in. Just place the device either upper, mid, or low thigh, and it will give your your required depth every rep.
