24p is often sold as a magical button that will transform video into film. It won't. 24p is merely one small and relatively unimportant part of "The Film Look" and this video graphically presents the definitive argument proving that 24p video doesn't automatically look like film... but it also makes a decisive argument (or two) for shooting 24p anyhow.

  • I still just plain like the look of 24p. I know it's a little jumpy, but I enjoy that look which relates to a movie theatre since I've grown up with it. I know The Hobbit they're shooting at a higher frame rate. It will be interesting to see the comparison on what I know will be a well shot film!

  • Although this is shot in 24p, it all depends on the viewer's monitor's refresh rate. My monitor is at 1080p and 60hz so I will not be able to see the SPEED effects of 24p aka 24hz. You need to set your monitor to 24hz, 48hz, 72hz, 96hz, or 120hz (all divisible by 24). And like you said, frame rate does not add to how the picture looks. i wish everything was shot in 75fps so it would be above the speed of our eye, looking perfectly smooth

  • very good job... keep putting videos up... it will help alot of people

  • Awesome

  • Hmm I'd only heard rumors of 24p, didn't realize they were trying to market it as film "look". The idea of film look suggests to me a tonal range quality, not a fps issue. As you said, the only advantage I can see is at high resolutions intended to be printed on film - 1 to 1, rather than having to down rez and either deal with frame drops or frame blending.

  • i hope u make more i wonder y ur vid only got 19 views in 2 weeks but anyway keep goin love ur vids!!!
