Jon Cooney's Time-Lapse Painting Videos : Volume One : 2009

This is one continual movie of 6 different Time-Lapse Painting Videos I've started making this year. In total I've made 8 so far and shall continue making more. I recently showed Volume One at Expressions Gallery in Berkeley, CA accompanied by the 6 paintings made in the videos framed and hung on the wall next to the flat screen that played the DVD of Volume One. Even though I have already posted all 8 videos I've made so far, I thought it would be good to also post Volume One as one continuous movie. Volume One only consists of 6 out of the 8 videos because that's how many were able to be hung for the gallery. The remaining 2 will probably make it onto Volume Two. I started making these videos to document the Meditation/Intention Paintings I started making this year. The idea is to calm the mind down a bit, and let go of any pre-conceived idea about what imagery I'm going to make. And to just allow myself to enjoy making art, and to try and finish a piece in one sitting. After doing a large amount of these type of paintings, I got the idea to begin video taping the process and then speeding up the footage so that people can watch my painting process.
