UPDATE: I was accepted!

I'm auditioning for the Interlochen arts summer camp - I play G.P. Telemann's Concerto in G Major, and J.C. Bach's Concerto in C Minor.
PLEASE! Leave comments, rankings, etc. I'd love to hear feedback. And yes, I did miss notes.... xD

  • Actually, to the guy who write about when the composers were around, it's important to remember that J.C. Bach had nothing at all to do with writing this, it wa written by cassadesus during a time when vibrato use was widely accepted. Also speaking of the Bach, bow speed and distribution will help 100% even from the very first chord of the piece. Try to use the whole bow on the two quarter note slurs, go from frog to tip, tip to frog an you will notice a massive improvement in sound.

  • i played this song last year, i'm working on the third movement now. what i found that worked was if you hold and pull out those big chords more, you get a bigger better sound that has more-whats the word...flavor? to it. and also a little vibrato couldnt hurt.

and it's good use a metrodome to get your speed up a little bit, but it'd ok to play it kinda off the beat, it makes it have more...flavor, i guess is the word again.

    GO VIOLAS!!!!!

  • Work that viola!

  • omg...I was going to go but my dad couldnt afford it...i got accepted!

    BUT GOOD JOB!!

    Violas do ROCK

  • I play viola and I'm going to interlochen this summer too! high five! go violas!

  • Yay! I was accepted for piano.

  • Damnit! Still haven't gotten my letter. I tried for all state band and I'm in 8th grade so its kinda illegal. (not really) I thought it was great. Just hoping there arent too many phenomanal trombone players auditioning.

  • For the people that commented on Vibrato:

Both of these composes lived in a time when Vibrato was viewed as an ornament only. No vibrato is the correct playing style.

  • vibrato*

  • please vabrado i think it would help alot-
