I haven't read Kafka nor have I seen this movie but if this trailer represents the feeling his books give you I want to start reading him right away

@ShayWilliamDawson1 There is no way anybody could make a film about naked lunch. You cannot compare Kafka to William Burroughs.

For all you Kafka addicts don't be too enthusiastic, this isn't a film about Kafka's life nor Kafka´s works. It is a mixture of both in a veery fictional way. It takes a bit of his life, a bit of "The Trial", "The Castle", "Amerika", "Metamorphosis" and "Letter to his Father". Even though it's a very nice film for those who read his works.

@iampoopman It is about as much about Kafka as the Cronenberg film Naked Lunch is about WIlliam Burroughs. It creates a pastiche of elements of Kafka's short life and iconic images from his stories to in many ways paint a more complete picture of this mysterious man. This deals less with the lonely, rather depressive, world-weary figure who felt forever trapped in Prague and focuses more with the dynamic, unconventional character that resided within. Good stuff, but read up before viewing.

Interesting the look of this film is very simlar to Welles's adaptation of The Trial.
I disagree Schattensprinter , i think Kafka is pretty much about the opposite of what you said. "He" the character, knows the world he lives in only too well, so well that he hates and rejects it. He is anything but a stranger in a strange world. He knows it and fears it. He would rather be anything than part of it.
