@Prairie7777 very ignorant reply! especially for these people who may have rescued their greyhounds from the racing industry.

Quite frankly, the only time I use a leash on my dog is when I'm hunting him on Jacks. As soon as one is flushed, he is on his way. I've devised a slip collar for this function which works quite well. I have spent many, many hours working with my dog. He responds instantly not only to voice but also to hand commands. He is totally trustworthy and it's very rewarding. But that's him. Other dogs are different and they all have their own unique personality.

So are you trying to say that you NEVER use a leash for your dogs?

So take the dog where it CAN run. They live for it. They are MADE for it. If you want a "LEASH" dog, get a poodle.

You don't know what was nearby - it may not have been safe to let them off leash - what if there was a busy street right out of camera view? Not only that; but in most communities there are leash laws that dogs are not permitted off leash in public places.
Yes, greyhounds run; but a responsible owner knows when it is safe to allow them off leash; because once they take off you aren't going to catch them.

This Bozo should know that Greyhounds run. That's what they do. Let the thing loose and let it run in the snow. I let mine do it all the time. They love it. Don't be so paranoid about letting it off of the leash.

How silly and fun....your greyhound is having a ball!
Indeed, there was a busy street a few meters away so can't have the hounds off leash. We do take them to a fenced in area to run but can't do that every day.
So, alas, being walked daily, this girl gets to go berzerko on leash as she never settles down when there's snow around. Seems to enjoy it though!
