The lack of character is what makes it believable... I mean think about it... how much personality does YOUR reflection have? Does it even answer your questions when you ask yourself something in the mirror? The fact that they are so simple is what made it so intriguing to me anyway...

I just saw this movie. I must say that from beginning to end my heart was beating irregularly and I loved that there was no real explanation. The conclusion was left up to the viewers imagination. You were left with an unfinished feeling like hearing an imperfect cadence ending on a piano. I was easy to see the the mirror people were in fact replacing the real ones in every aspect of their lives. That's the explanation.

@AnselmoFanZero I didn't find the end stupid at all. In fact I couldn't imagine ANY end that would have fitted without destroying the "magic". So their "we don't explain anything, just accept it like it is"-end was the best thing they could do imho

Regarding the movie: Part 2 has nothing to do with part 1...weird stuf......just....weird.

@AnselmoFanZero I felt the same way. I kept expecting a revelation or explanation of some kind... absent one, I ended up just feeling like, "Wow, senseless." The film failed to to conquer my brain and suspend my skepticism. They failed to give the "mirror people" any dimension or depth. Without any mythology or psychology behind it, the premise falls flat. It's like, "whatever, stupid motiveless evil mirror people" instead of "aiee, what if my mirror breaks? I can't sleep tonight!"
