Adyashanti is a dynamic and inspiring spiritual teacher who lives an ordinary life while demonstrating an extraordinary gift for transmitting a simple truth to thousands of students worldwide: liberation is the birthright of us all. His teachings have been compared to those of the early Zen masters and Advaita Vedanta sages.

Adyashanti began teaching in 1996 at the request of his Zen teacher, with whom he had been studying for 14 years. A native of Northern California, he now teaches extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area, offering weekly satsangs, frequent intensives, and silent retreats. He also travels to teach in other areas of the United States and Canada.

Adyashanti is the author of The Impact of Awakening, Emptiness Dancing, My Secret Is Silence, True Meditation, and The End of Your World, and has made extensive audio and video recordings of his talks and satsangs.

zenmonkgenryu - Adyashanti never claimed to be a traditional zen teacher. The Buddha didn't have a lineage, his realization was his authority. I have met numerous teachers with official dharma transmission who acted out all kinds of shadow stuff on their students, all the way to dubious sexual conduct. Being officially authorized is no guarantee for anything, it is a way to formalize something that can't be controlled by institutions and traditions.

Humanity has less then 40 years to wake up since we are not sustainable with the current way we are living on this wonderful planet.

The awakening is increasing exponentially and is being felt by millions of people all over the world.

@zenmonkgenryu To be honest. Transmitted, and lineage are not part of my vocabulary. I blame my english teacher. I also don't understand why it matters, Adya is a spiritual teacher, although I am not 'egoless', I can tell the difference between who I am and my mind, and this guy makes alot of sense. You seem to be saying he needs a qualification to be a teacher, that tells me you are missing the point, stop living in the insanity of 'the world', and step out of it into sanity, PeaCe.

The only people who can teach this are egoless, or completly 'self'-less people. Hate to break it to you but thats not you, nor is it me. One day you will expose yourself.

@freetao1 Not only has he lied about his ties to a traditional Zen lineage but there is also the shadow side. I worked for years to expose Genpo. Now that that's done, it's this guy's turn and he will be exposed for what he is.
