@toxicitzi my take is that the om's plan was to assimilate naturally and nonviolently but to achieve total purity of essence through force. In essence the DV simply tweaked a small few details. WOL's arcs were partially about Raynor facing his fears and inner demons. Also, it allows Kerrigan to achieve genuine redemption for her sins, which I think is better than a simple rehash of she's an evil tyrant (they did it with art has and most other fallen heroes. Kerrigan deserves redemption.)

@pirateking193 and doesn't that sound out of place if you played Starcraft's campaign before Starcraft 2's campaign?.
But I'm not saying the prophecy is all crap, SC2 in particular had the audacity to recycle WC3 Reign of Chaos's story line..
Here's some examples:
1. Dark voice same as Archimonde -> Checked.
2. Enslaved race -> Checked.
3. The prophecy of complete chaos -> Checked.
4. Allegiance between enemies hated for decades -> Checked.

@toxicitzi the prophecy is actually that the dark voice will destroy all. The prophecy can be summed up as "the dark voice will break the cycle and plunge everything to darkness."
Kerrigan was created in the vague hope that she would break the Dark One's hold and defy the prophecy

@DestAeval actually they confirmed that Fenix's death is an issue that will be addressed in heart of the swarm and that yes it does still haunt Raynor. Also, the infestation was partially responsible

There some UED in mission 9.

@BaxterXenon It's highly improbable :)
You can't really expect a thousand soldiers to know how to react at any given moment when most of them get distracted by the sheer brutality of that war and quickly overwhelmed in numbers by the enemy. The enemy is fast, furious and relentless. That's no slow army of zombies you're fighting, those are nightmarish monsters that eat even the metal of vehicles for dinner :p

@toxicitzi Well pretty much you got your point proven.....but you know....it's a fictional story made up. I mean really, you know there's always the guy who stands against impossible odds. But couldn't tactics factor into this? For example a group of ten units could in possibly wipe out 200, maybe by using heavy artillery or grenades or shit like that. By that ratio they could take out at least 4000 per ten units, and if most survive they can use more tactics?

@BaxterXenon so, my point in a nutshell is, do not try to tell me that Jim's victory is believable.. without that Artifact that the developers pulled right out of their ass, he would've been meat for the Zerglings by now.
and don't even get me started on Kerrigan becoming human again, that alone goes on an even higher level of stupidity than this whole thing we've been talking about..

@BaxterXenon yeah, nobody likes Mengsk, I never even said such a thing anyway..
What I said was, an army is an army, even if it's some asshole like Mengsk leading it. Kerrigan's army however threatens all life in the universe, just like the Overmind before her.
Brood War did that kind of alliance in the mission Omega. Artanis, Mengsk and even admiral DuGalle all ally in a final confrontation with Kerrigan and her Swarm, and you know what? all 3 have their forces annihilated and DuGalle dies.
i've never understood the concept of terminating an enemy "with extreme prejudice." if a commander wants his soldiers to kill the enemy, are there different degrees of killing them? are there different levels of "prejudice" they can use? maybe they could "terminate the enemy with mild prejudice." they still have to attack and kill the enemy, but they feel kind of bad about it. "listen, enemy... i have to kill you, but i really wish i didn't have to. i only prejudge you a little bit." weird.
