This video is of our prototype two-seater off road buggy. At this stage the main object of the testing is to prove that the chassis, suspension and the transmission are capable of standing up to the rough terrain, things like the bodywork, paintwork, fit and finish etc.. are not important at this time. Our main aim is to make this prototype extremely strong and reliable even when raced. When that is achieved we will move onto the bodywork and other finishing parts. Part of the development of this buggy will be to race it in comp safari events to see how it compares to the competition.

This buggy (no name yet) is built on our own space frame with RAC MSA spec roll cage and will meet with all RAC MSA specifications to compete in Comp Safari events here in the UK. It has 16 inches of travel at the front and 14 inches at the rear. It is 2 wheel drive and the transmission is CVT automatic which was chosen because it puts the power down to the ground in such a way that it grips and goes with minimum wheel spin. This transmission also has another mode where the driver can use the flappy paddles on the back of the steering wheel to select any of the 7 gears (actually pre set positions on the pulleys) and there is no clutch pedal.

This buggy will be sold as a kit. We will supply chassis, suspension, fabricated parts etc.. and the customer will then need to purchase a Honda Jazz donor car 02 to 08. (Usually crash damaged at around £1000). From that car the customer will need engine, transmission, brakes, hubs, wheels, drive shafts, steering column and wheel wiring loom, ECU and various other parts. You could possibly use the registration documents from the donor car as we also intend to make this car so that it will pass an SVA test to make it road legal. We will also offer a complete ready to drive (turn key) car.

This video was taken at a non-competitive off-road day where there were some extensively modified Land Rovers etc.. I am quite sure that we got up all of the hills that anyone else did - not bad for a two-wheel drive buggy that is still very much a prototype and still under development.

  • honda fit eengine? arnt those like 105 hp?

    The one we get here in the UK is 82 hp, Since then it has had quite a few different enginesincluding " 800 rotax snow mobile engines! Just taken out a MR2 engine and putting in a V6 peugeot

  • Thanks, Yes I am a big fan of hondas engineering and we tried (and failed)to break a honda jazz engine and transmission in another buggy before going ahead with this build.
