  • gerald..crazy champ tone...what oh what have you done in there..is schematic that of wideface tweed? I have a push pull theatre amp with eight tubes and I ninend to strip and re cap as a champ circa 53 - using the existing 6Sj7, 6V6, 5V4 and their sockets, heater connections..leaving five sockets empty, losing what looks like a choke (Tx w two leads only) and 1636 Cdn Hammond OT. If I can get bad caps out safely, find signle ended transformer..and keep existing power tx...easy, right?

  • This tone !!!!

  • Hello from Liverpool ,England Gerald! You are a top bloke!

  • It's one of Weber's Kendrick amps, most likely; Billy Gibbons owns a few.

  • Wow, that guitar playing is amazing. What amp is that?

  • @deemilieu Shouldn't. I had a helper tech remove a tube from my JTM 50 without my knowledge and a I let it rip for about 20 seconds wondering WTF? It sounded like crap, but no ill effects. I would not play a gig or even a whole song with the amp that way.

  • Why can't I use the max output of the pick up, or my pedal(s) and put that signal in at the standard 1KHz reference signal and then dime everything. (usually spec'd procedure) Then use an actual audio meter like a Bruel and Kjaer, or HP. Storage scope would also work. Watts are watts. Do the math. An RMS average/peak recording meter is real handy too. The old Fluke reacts so slowly and inaccurately any number here is at best a wild guess. An AC PEL is great for this purpose .too.

  • How bloody inaccurate. Yet another eyeball measurement, as bad as Pittman's crossover notch biasing.

  • video ends prematurely. Book has so many typos I lost count.

  • Pulling one of the two 5881 power tubes on a jtm-45 head and running it like that at low volume - will that toast the amp?
