Anyone use the honda hrx217 with the smart drive (thumb controls). How does this compare to the one with cruise control/hydro tranny?

Bought a HOnda a few years ago because they are suposedly the best. Deck rusted completely out. HONDA did promise me the replace my deck with a used one so I took my mower to the dealer and after a few days they called to tell me the used deck was sold to someone else and Honda would only give me 1/2 hour labour. Honda not only does not stand behind their product their cusomer service lies to you to get out off the line, lots of choices out there dont assume Honda is going to do right thing.

@cpotter1565 yes, you are right. the lawnmower i got had a honda engine. one pull start everytime, never runs out of power.

I highly recommend it I cut about 10 lawns a week for some extra money. It does have rear wheel and that helps with less affort on your part and really I can cut a lawn with one hand. The cruise control really helps keep the cut very even and it is great. Definently worth the money

I have a Lawn Care Business and have had two of these mowers for five years. I cut 10 lawns a day. Thats 2,400 cuts they have made in one year. And 120,000 in five years. I have only replaced the transmission on both of them lasy year once and about (7) throttle cables. And new tires. All in all about $ 400.00 in service for 120,000 cuts. That is good I think. I highly recommend!

is the drive wheel in the rear? Is that preferable to a front wheel drive mower?

What an awesome mower. I purchased the HRX2172HMC a couple of months ago, definitly worth the extra money over other brands. I recommend a Honda to everyone thats in the market for buying a new mower and wants a high quality product.
