言葉と使い方を説明します。

I recently went to a Japanese doctor and he told me I was infected with Herpes. I was shocked and confused until I learned that in the Japanese Language, Herpes is Herpes regardless of where it appears on the body. I explain how in English we use the term "cold sore" to refer to outbreaks on the mouth, and how HERPES generally makes us imagine the STI/STD that occurs between the legs.

If you're going to Finland it's okay to say that you have herpes, just remember to say that you have it in your lips.-- I have lipherpes. It's the definition that counts, otherwise people will also think you're carrying STD's.

Actually, cold sores runs in my family. But so far, I am the only one who has not......could I say had it activate? It seems like I will never get cold sores, but it runs in the family. My sister said I just have been lucky. But I HAVE gotten cheilosis a few times, and I am the only one who has. And that is because I have this really bad habit of licking my lips. I can't help it!

In USA we call cold sores Herpes too... It depends on which type. Herpes Type 1 is the oral infection and Herpes Type 2 is genital herpes. Usually, type 1 is transmitted through oral secretions or sores on the skin, can be spread through kissing or sharing objects such as toothbrushes or eating utensils.

cold sores and herpes are the same thing hsv1 and hsv2. You miss have herpes.

In Israel we also call the thing on the lips herpes.
