  • Really lovely music, thanks.

I should imagine this instument was custom made? Pat Metheny has a similar instrument called a Picasso guitar which can be seen on YouTube. The name of the tune is Into the Dream, check it out it is a another beautiful piece of music.

  • The instrument was custom made by Alan Perlamn in San Francisco.

  • @TimHGuitar Sorry, it is Alan Perlman, not Perlamn.

  • sounds like fable music, this is amazing

  • @Cuirassier23 I know James personally and he does not use high tension strings.I was with him when he

picked up the guitar from Alan.I think the neck may be made out of Spanish or Honduran Cedar. You can ask Mr.Perlman directly.

  • God, that guitar must have one an insanely reinforced neck, not to mention top... would anyone be able to tell me what sort of wood was used to make this arch-harp's neck?

  • The most alien looking guitar I've ever seen and very well played btw!

  • @TimHGuitar

    Typo; it's Alan Perlman

  • beast

  • As a guitar player I'm trying to figure out how he does the opening and closing. Is it a firm strike(hammer on) on the string at the proper fret, is there a pull-off at times, are there some sympathetic strings? It sounds like 2 notes an octave apart sometimes.

    Any musicians know?

This guy is wonderful. I also like John Doan. I've got an album of his from the 80s.

  • genius master of masters.
