  • I'm really freaked out! I'm having a L3L4 and L4L5 bone fusion through my belly with cadaver bone this Wednesday January 18,2012 at 7:30am....I'm really scared I pray it goes well

    .

    I'm a 6"9 331 lb 31 year old male.....God bless

  • yeah when I 1st had the accident it was at 5mm but now it has doubled in size! =( But yeah I have a lot of other things going on like the shoulder too so it's been a lot to deal w/ that's for sure.

  • @k8dunning85 wow thats a big disc. i had 8 mm

  • @k8dunning85 i saw different doctors and after i learned about fusion i kind of got scared about it. they said discectomy could work too and it would be less dangerous so i chose to get that done and depends on how this works i could get fusion in the future. now im glad i didnt get the fusion. the pain is gone now i just need my nerves to get better. Therapy and 2 epidurals didnt work for me thats when the surgery was recommended. so if you feel thats working for you just hold off.

  • @daisylovesmoy Now I just started a Pilates Physical Therapy place though & that seems to really be helping. I'm going to try that for as much as I can 1st & try to loose some weight before I even consider surgery. I want to give the Pilates a little more time b/c it's really helping a lot it seems.

Can I ask why did your doctor decide to do discectomy instead of fusion? Glad that it has worked good for you!

  • @daisylovesmoy Hi. I had a slip & fall accident 6 years ago when I was only 20 yrs old. I seriously injured my back w/ bulging disk in low back, which is now gone to a Protruding disk of like 11 mm. I also injured my right shoulder very badly & right wrist & hand. In the beginning the pain went down my rt. leg but that went away after 2nd epidural I had the 1st year after the accident... but I don't have the same sensation in my rt leg & I have a gait now...

  • @k8dunning85 hi kate thanks for your wishes. whats wrong with your back ? i ended up getting a lumbar discectomy instead of fusion. i got it done 3 months ago and im feeling better everyday, cant say im 100%..not there yet. my pain is gone but i still have numbness on my legs doc said it was normal and could take up to 2 years for the nerves to function properly. I can say the surgery was the right choice. is your disc hurting your nerves? good luck i hope you reply!

Hi, Did you get the surgery? I am only 26 year old female... and a doctor today told me I need to have it done. I don't think I want to let them cut me/do back surgery. I have heard too many horror stories. I hope yours went well if you had it done. I know how you feel being so young and in chronic pain. I had my slip & fall accident when I was 20 & I've been in chronic pain ever since. Wish you the best! ~Kate

  • very informative. i am having the spine fusion 360 due to ddd. I am currently in a lot a pain and am hoping this will help. I am very nervious regarding this procedure. I know I have a very good Dr. I am mostly concerned about the pain following the surgery.

  • I was fused 2 months before this video, four levels L3 to S1, and I used a very big, expensive doctor, why didn't he do this for me? I wanted to die from the recovery pain!
