Patti LuPone, who found fame thanks in part to her Tony-winning portrayal of Eva Perone in Broadway's 'Evita', sits down with Ernie Manouse and discusses some of her favorite roles, reveals a very interesting film opportunity that she turned down during the 1990's, and shares the lessons learned during a career that has now spanned five different decades. • When they talk about her performance in "Sweeney Todd", are they talking about the 2001 concert performance with George Hearn or the 2005 Broadway revival with Michael Cerveris? Like, is she talking about Director Lonny Price or John Doyle?? In other words, when was this interview exactly- what year?

    Thanks!!

  • @fountainchain126 This interview as shot before the 2005 revival.

    Thanks for watching!

  • 7:21-7:24 bahahha! She's perfection!

  • Patti is an actress that really embodies the charactors that she plays with a great deal of honesty and intelligence and I love that about her. Her clarity and diction on stage is prefect... However, in this interview I am really having trouble understanding her because she is speaking so.damn. FAST ! SLow down Patti dear, we want to hear what you have to say. Love you just the same.

  • well, she didn't exaclt live like a monk...she did a cabaret show on saturday nights at les mouches..

  • Its Eva Peron

  • soooooo amazing!

  • @TONYFROMWESTSIDE Ah I see - thanks a lot!! :)

  • @fountainchain126 There was a TV movie about 'The Regans' which came out close to the time of this interview... and it was axed at the last minute, as 'someone' felt it was painting the Regan's in an unfavourable light. The TV movie had James Brolin as Ronald Regan and Judy Davis as Nancy - this is how Patti leads into her comments about Judy Davis and how brilliant she is as an actress and how she should have played EVITA in the film... lol. and Marni Nixon could have sung for her. LMAO -

  • @fountainchain126 She is talking about english directors in general, with reference to Trevor Nunn and when he directed her in Sunset Boulevard. She does have a point.... it's true what she's saying... broadway musicals are flawed... and a director needs to disguise these flaws in the script as best he can... but she's saying here that english directors are better at Shakespeare and Restoration, but not Broadway musicals.

  • What is she talking about the Ronald Reagan thing.......

  • What is she on about when she says "They are laborious at best...They don't know how to disguise any flaw...." etc - Can someone explain that section about the British & Broadway musicals being flawed? It's so random & hard to understand!!!!
