  • i don't know if anyone else sees this but there's a child-like quality about Jussi that's touching to witness. In the same La Boheme clip mentioned earlier, there's a scene where Jussi, w/unchecked eagerness, starts to mouth Renata's lines- like a kid. He cracks me up, it's endearing. I've seen many clips of him performing & it's always the same- w/out ego, unaware of form, single-mindedly singing his heart out. I'm sure this is part of the reason why he's able to deeply affect his audiences.

  • Absolutely the most beautiful sound of all the centuries lol. Not only aesthetically beautiful but genuinely touching the hearts.

  • Una maravilla, su fraseo, su dicción, su dulzura.

  • This orchestra is brought to you by Firestone!

  • It's all been said by other commentators. I especially like kittycrunch and sutartiff.

  • Why do I get tears in my eyes and a bittersweet feeling in my soul when I listen to this?

  • can somebody tell me who was the conductor?

  • But do not forget wonderful German tenor Peter A n d e r s (1908-1954 ).

  • Jussi Bjorling: medicine for the heart.

  • I know that Swedes in general hate Norwegians (for whatever sad reason), but I ( a Norwegian) absolutely love Jussi (a swede). In my opinion the greatest tenor ever! Thank you, Jussi, for what you gave us. I will never forget you. One day I will visit your hometown and put flowers on your grave. You certainly have deserved that.

  • Thanks to primobaritono for putting this excellent, not often heard, Strauss up on YOu Tube. I share his and other commenters below -- enthusiasm for JB's artistry and singing.

  • I admire the restraint and respect demonstrated in Primobaritono s words. possibly the greatest tenor in the history of music. I am mush more inclined to speak in absolutest terms. I call Bjorling the greatest tenor ever, and probably the most perfect singer ever. And I say this without equivocation. But I also say it with respect.
