This video is my pitch the United Nations as part of the Citizen Ambassador Contest. You can find more about this contest at this URL:

My pitch to them is that we need to bridge the digital divide. Contests like this are great but it's only those who are rich enough to afford access to the internet. Many of us are talking about poverty - but it's not the poor themselves who are able to speak to their own needs. In order for us to help the marginalized, the marginalized need a voice for themselves.

The script of my pitch is as follows:

"Excuse me, Mr. Secretary-General, as you can see with this contest, the internet is a powerful way to have a global conversation that can influence global priorities. Unfortunately, conversations on the internet exclude the poorest of the world's poor. This is because they are beyond something called the digital divide. Bridging this divide won't happen by simply dumping technology on the poor. Rather, we need bridge-makers who can connect communities on opposite sides of this divide. This isn't a theory - I've been doing this for the past four years. And, if you give me the chance, I'd love to tell you more."
