@ecko911 really? thats stupid i dont like how arts now is not as important as academic subjects. but in reality they are just as important
-
T^T so sad
-
How about they cut both and people spend as much of their own money on culture as they wish?

As if sheet music will disappear and books will die because of this. You can make a video like this for anything. Your parents did not give you your allowance this week....just post a video of a swan slowly dying.

Agreed.
Most Canadians do not consume the art made by those artists that we fund. Which means that we are being forced to pay for artists whose work we do not indulge in. For the government to decide which artists I ought to fund (whether I like it or not) is very elitist. I think it is also snobbish of some in the arts community to think they are also entitled to this. Consumers should decide what they want to consume.

I didn't need the government to teach me to play guitar or to instill a desire for literature. I think funding from the government is the death of real culture, which should be free from the strings of politicians.
No , it's because the government of Canada wanted to cut on the Art to save money.

Actually it's about the Canadian government cutting funding for the arts. Which is why sheet music, as well as a novel are shown (the novel could signify knowledge as a whole though). I think the movie reel was shown more extensively because it's something that hits closer to home for the director.
