I snuck some video footage of my British friend Ben (Knife) trying out a variety of firearms at a range in Florida, USA. Mosin Nagant, Makarov, AK, Taurus, etc.

Do you mean the WASR-10?

It wasn't a WASR. It was an AK-103 or -101 or something, but I couldn't recall which exact model afterwards. Since I wasn't sure, I just put "AK-10?".

well 2 things here, you can get a mosin nagant and plenty other bolt action power rifles CHEAP at like big fives fairly easily (at least here in california the queerest state of them all)

and many of the poeple here really shouldn't be equiped with toy guns.... let alone real ones.

It's a shame that the USA will probably end up the same way because out of the 80 million gun owners..only 4 million support the NRA. This is something the UN sees as a good thing and spokeswoman Rebecca Peters sees as a sign to move ahead towards total disarmament of the US populace. I solved this by getting a Pearce (spelling?) rubber grip. Reduced overall kick, and it was nice and cushiony on the back. If you get a rubber grip, be sure to get the right one, there's two different sizes for the two different makarov models and they are not interchangable (one is wider).

I have a makarov. The kick isn't bad at all, I love the gun. The only thing that I noticed is the standard grip (plastic) is cut a little bit low on the back, and it causes the metal to bite onto the soft spot between your thumb and pointer finger. It's not bad, but it'l wear on ya after firing 30 rounds or so. (continued in next post)

It makes you wonder if the Makarov you're buying might have shot up some Afghanies before...

Maks don't kick at all, really. Good gun for a woman (or anyone else, for that matter) to carry, because they're small and almost impossible to jam.

It fires a less powerful round (9x18mm Makarov round) than most 9mm's, and it's also heavy for its size. Not much of a kick.

Recoil MIGHT be harsh, but only if you're about 8 years old.
