Also, why didn't they have Starkweather wearing his glasses all the way through the movie? In this part he puts his glasses on to read, but it was my understanding that Charles was very, very badly sighted and always wore his glasses ( which he liked because it made him look more like James Dean.)

Roth looks far more convincing as Starkweather with the glasses on.

I have no idea. I read somewhere that Charles did need glasses, but I don't think he always wore them. (In the film he supposedly took the glasses from Robert Jensen, the teenager he killed, but I'm not sure that was what actually happened)

They did that because it wouldn't have made a very interesting movie, maybe a documentary, but not a movie.

With her step dad, Mother and 1/2 sister rotting in the outer buildings, Caril enjoyed Charlie's company to the fullest for days.. Buying candy, cigarettes and soda pop.Caril shooed family away with her sign that said, everyone had "the flue."Yes Charlie and Caril were compulsive liars, changing their stories more than once.

Oh thank God! I couldn't handle if the poor victim felt that! But, why would he bother to do something so painful & terrifying to someone who isn't aware? It sounds calculated to be so brutal a victim would suffer and beg even more than from a conventional attack, which would make the perp feel super powerful, which is what these killers all apparently want. Just hope I'm wrong!

I believe that it was stated that he shot her first, then sodomized her with the knife. I can only hope that the bullet killed her first. I don't understand how anyone could have the stomach for such atrocities. :}

OMG!. Was the poor woman dead already or did she experience the whole thing.

Reminds me of the Brad Pitt movie Seven where the killer murdered his way through the bible's 7 mortal sins. For "Lust" he wore a giant strap on knife & had sex with her. The blade would easily reach her heart, maybe even her throat (from the inside). They only showed a picture of the device but just that image shocked me so much I still remember how it looked after 10 years since Iast saw the film.

Starkweather not only killed the woman with the pants around her ankles, he took his knife and put it in her anus and twisted it around several times. He sodomized her with it.

Yep, Charlie had myopia and his eyesight was so bad he couldn't even read the big E on the eyechart. Had he not been executed, he would have been blind in a year.
