falling girder

Yesterday, 29th June 2007, the builders had a lucky escape when the girder, that they were manhandling into position across the river, fell due to the outer skin of the flood defence wall collapsing. It was nobody's fault, and it says a lot for their safety practices and quick reactions that no-one was hurt. Watch the guys on the left, and see them jump back from the collapsing wall just before the movie ends. Thank you gents for kindly giving me permission to put this movie on Youtube.

NB: I have been asked why the movie stops so soon after the wall collapses: just when it gets interesting. Of course no-one expected the collapse, and in fact I had ended the recording before i heard the crash. It wasn't until I played it back on the computer that I realised that the collapse was actually caught on film.
