AU troops battle al-Shabab in outer Mogadishu

Somali government forces and African Union troops have launched a new offensive against Islamist fighters in Mogadishu.

There has been heavy fighting in the capital as they try to seize positions held by Al Shabab rebel fighters.

Al Jazeera's Liz Dunkerley reports.

@100crawma in 20 years i am hoping for the best i expect any good person to hope for the better i know there are sings that are not promising but dont look at the negative side the people you are refering to as they will be starving are the victims those dont run around and kill each other no the weak like children and the elderly are the ones that starve becouse of the actions of the millitants so i disagree with you am thinking this will come to an end very soon

@Peopleviews i dont know about that since neither you nor i really know what alshabaab is and everything we know about them is from the media which cant be trusted these days i think we shouldnt dismiss them as savages that should suffer on earth and end up in hell hier after they are macking big mistackes and i believe they are being pushed to doing what they are doing all i am saying is be sympathetic and wish for the best since they are somalis like you assuming you are of somali origin
