@sietube2008 green is good, brown is bad. some people try to clean too much. when I set up my tanks I would put in the nastiest mud and water from the creek to get the bacteria going. I really like your 2 drum filtration system.

@simoncanela that's good to know. I tried experimenting with killing the algae, but it seemed like the fish were healthier when I did not control it, but just pulled it out during the winter. Could that be because the algae is removing nutrients which I am then removing when I harvest the algae?
