Revisiting the Koi Pond I one year later. There is quite a bit of algae growing, but in the warmer weather the fish keep it in check. During the winter it got pretty long and I had to keep pulling it out.

  • Great pond for the space you had. Algae is healthy.

  • @simoncanela that's good to know. I tried experimenting with killing the algae, but it seemed like the fish were healthier when I did not control it, but just pulled it out during the winter. Could that be because the algae is removing nutrients which I am then removing when I harvest the algae?

  • @DocAhrens add some mollies, they eat algae like crazy. nice kois!

  • @sietube2008 green is good, brown is bad. some people try to clean too much. when I set up my tanks I would put in the nastiest mud and water from the creek to get the bacteria going. I really like your 2 drum filtration system.

  • A little red bridge is cute.

    Enjoy.

  • best pond ever cool

  • That's a nice looking pond. You'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it I am sure.
