start of Act III, as the Valkyries gather the soldiers' bodies, and clip ends a bit after Brünnhilde's entrance.

Wagner used the Valkyries of the Norse Sagas, rather than the depiction of them in the Nibelungenlied. Women of death and warfare, as Chéreau understood well.

from Darraðarljóð (Njál's saga Chap. 156.):

Vindum, vindum
vef darraðar,
þars er vé vaða
vígra manna!
Látum eigi
líf hans farask;
eigu valkyrjur
vals of kosti.

Wind we, wind swiftly
Our warwinning woof.
sword-bearing rovers
To banners rush on,
Mind, maidens, we spare not
One life in the fray!
We corse-choosing sisters

Der Ring des Nibelungen, a famous production from Bayreuth 1976, recorded 1980.

Well, since Hitler (and thereby the dominant german nazi movement) wasn't born until 6 years after Wagner died (and 38 years after this music was written) I'm not really certain that you can make such rash assumptions. Hitler only used Wagner's music due to it's magnificence, and even though Wagner is viewed as rather great man, not even he can change the world of the living from his grave.

  • @hanuman6810 is it on youtube?

  • @theadorkablejulie also Hitler was the only Nazi who liked Wagner. The rest were basically forced by Hitler himself to go to opera and listen.

  • I hear Wagner music is illegal in Israel yet German products are everywhere...

Has anyone seen the Wagner TV series w/Richard Burton playing Wagner? Worth seeing.

  • I love the big sound that comes out of nowhere at 1:55. So epic. Imagine singing like that lol.

  • @patrickangus16 The Connection between Wagner and Hitler is as significant as the connection between Me, and Beethoven. I love Beethoven more than any other composer. Does that mean that Beethoven has anything to do with my social or spiritual beliefs? NO! Herr LvB has no fucking clue who I am, and wouldn't care. Same with Wagner and Hitler. MAYBE they shared a few beliefs, but WAGNER HAS NO CLUE WHO HITLER WAS. They are not connected at all.
