One year ago, I had a grand mal seizure due to alcohol withdrawal. I chose not to go to rehab. Here's my story.

  • Please feel free to call me at 801-860-3627

  • Do you have a doctor or health insurance? That was one of my concerns when I stopped but everything can be fixed. Take it 1 day at a time and you will beat it. I am happy to hear you are staying sober. If there is ever a time you feel weak, you can call me any time of day. I always have my phone by the bed.

  • Yeah.. I have ins and a doctor.. He's been telling me to quit or die for a little while now.. It's about 4:45 am, I slept for around 4-5 hours and am up.. The internet is good for insomnia, but I feel really good actually.. The brain fog (my only symptom) is clearing up nicely.. I have to call the doctor in the morning to give him an update.. Maybe I've been spared the nasty withdrawal.. I'll take it as a blessing and wont drink again. I'll keep ya up to date!

  • Talk to your doctor about trazadone as a sleeping aid. It really makes a difference for me. I'm proud of you

  • I'm 34.. same story.... In my 29th hour as I'm writing this without alcohol. I am getting hot flashes.. No shakes as of yet.. I am on blood pressure medicine and the doctor perscribed Librium if I get any shakes or symptoms of that order. I am worried about a seizure.. But its in God's hands. Great video.. Needed to see that.

  • Hi Bill, I wanted to check with you and see how things are going. Thankyou for sharing. You can call me anytime, Chris

801-860-3627. It is one day at a time, hang in there!

  • how did your other half put up with your drinking?

  • @SavingRick wow! thankfully i have not had that terrible experience. the only think i can put it down to is that i drink as much water the next day as i drank booze the night before. who knows maybe just lucky but I have quit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @HVChemical hi. i'm going through all that right now. hope you have hung in. I know that I am done with it. I have too much to lose and so much to gain.

  • @myownAA Awesome. Very similar to my story (even the vacation pics oddly similar). I fell into 'alcoholism' virtually pout of nowhere 4 years ago. Stopped completely after 8 months heavy drinking ended up in hospital had no clue what could happen with alcohol withdrawal. I USED to work out 5x a week. My question: How important was your exercise/getting in shape to you personally in getting off alcohol? Do you think there is a strong relation or just coincidence? I suspect the former. Thanks!

  • its important for anyone withdrawing to know about complications of the brain. the brain does not like withdrawl because of a b1 deficiency associated with alcoholism.

anyone going through withdrawl should ABSOLUTELY be taking a b1 supplement.

  • There are many ways to quit addiction. Congrats for finding your own way.

  • I just want to say I saw your video and found it very inspiring. I too am now at the beginning of a journey and hope it ends the same way as yours.

  • are you still off the booze?

  • Very inspirational - I too did it myself and now 2 1/2 years sober - I feel guilty not attending AA meetings - it is suppose to be essential, but I seem to get by just fine...good to see I am not the only one with a personal alcohol success story - thanks for making and posting the video.
