i live in minnesota omg my dad and my little brother left the bridge about an hour before it collapsed thats sooo scary.

i live in woodbury mn and all i have to say is stupid people dont pay for yearly bridge analysis so people get hurt cus they pay for new shit and dont fix the problem wit old shit great huh

I live in Dinkytown in Minneapolis. I use(d) this bridge every day. It simply wore the F out. I feel sorry for the families but I hope they fix the bridge soon cause it's the main way across the river here!

Since this tragedy has made "armchair engineers" out of many of us, I offer my theory:
Several years ago, this bridge was outfitted with an experimental anti-icing system. There were thousands of spray nozzles planted in the bridge deck that emitted a chemical solution to prevent ice from forming on the bridge. It worked well, but I believe it weakened the concrete or accelerated corrosion of the steel. Just a thought.
