I wanted to do something important this week, so I searched the Internet for the most poignant pictures of our military heroes and made my own slide presentation. I included a picture of my brother's name on the wall, and closed the show with a picture of a WWII veteran holding the very flag that was draped over his son's coffin after he was killed in action in the Korean war. My aim was to not only salute our troops, but the families who are so often out of the limelight, but who are also sacrificing so much, to let their fathers, sons, mothers, daughters, husbands, wives and other loved ones go to serve in the defense of our nation. No matter what you think of this war, these patriots deserve our deepest respect and honor. I hope you find this slideshow accomplishes that aim.

  • Thanks, YouTube. I'm sure it was really important that you remove the song from this video... for anyone interested, it was Ray Charles singing "America the Beautiful." It sounded pretty good with these pictures, and was a fitting tribute song to our fallen heroes.

Sincerely, Marty T. Culleton, SMSgt, USAF (Retired)

  • Another thing. May your brother rest in peace.

  • And wait, I'm not done. The achievements, the conquest, the strife, all of it..I'm proud to call myself American. Whenever I hear this song, I always feel like shedding a tear for the sacrifices that we have made to try and make ourselves better.

  • The moment I think about OUR beautiful country, or our loyal military, I ALWAYS feel a surge of respect, patriotism, love, and gratitude go through my heart. I am soo thankful for what the men and women of the U.S. Military and the Police Department, our FireFighter Department and our Medical personnel have done to preserve our country, that which is, sweet America.

  • Very nicely done. I have been to the Brook Army Medical Center several times and I am always struck by the strength of the men and women who have sacrificed themselves for the sake of others. I am humbled by their stoic acceptance.

  • Thanks for those kind words and a wonderful. Makes me proud to have severed over 26 years in the defense of our Country. Again thanks for a wonderful slideshow.
