Benedetto Marcello 1686 1739 (composer, writer, advocate, magistrate, and teacher)
Born in Venice, Benedetto Marcello was a member of a noble family and his compositions are frequently referred to as Patrizio Veneto. Although he was a music student of Lotti and Francesco Gasparini, his father wanted Benedetto to devote himself to law.

As usual, Ernst, yours and Aldo's playing is excellent, as are the graphics and clarity of recording. "by ernststolz" is a promise of consistent high quality.
I'm wondering how you match a bow to your viola da gamba; period or modern copy? I know from my cello playing days what a difference good strings and bow can make. I finished up with a Lupot bow which transformed the tone and the pleasure of playing.

Thank you, I try my best, (sometimes with a little time pressure). I have some very fine bows and of course there is always better and nicer somewhere...
