The dates for the Brief Hindu Timeline are drawn from a significantly more extensive timeline assembled by Hinduism Today in 1994. It should be self evident that the choice of items on the timelines and the dates themselves may not align with the opinions of all people. This video is presented as general information, not as a scholarly stance. Dates preceded by "ca" are approximate. The notation "bce" means "before common era" in the year zero of the Western or Gregorian calendar. The notation "ce" means "common era" and is after the year zero.

  • mahabharat is proclaimbed to have occured prior to the begingging of kaliyug (~3100bc), yet you have sage vyasa composing it much later who was also a major character of the Mahabhrata. I do not know the exact date, but some claim the mahabharata to have occured around 3100bc or even 5000bc according to the the mahabharata and dating of astronomical recordings of the sky in the poem.

  • The dates were collected from elsewhere, fully recognizing that there are lots of different opinions on many points of history. This video is intended as general information, not an academic or scholarly statement of fact. It is best for all users to independently verify dates that are in question. As stated in the video title, it is intended for practitioners of yoga meditation. Sincerely, those who wish detailed historical dates, please explore them on your own, and decide for yourself.

  • Are any of these Ancient dates backed up by schlolarly research??????

  • Please read the description of the video which clearly states that these are from a timeline from Hinduism Today. You will need to look at their complete timeline and ask them about their "scholarly research" if you wish.

  • There seems to be a lot missing with respect to Mahavir and the Jain systems. Also in many respects Tibetan Budhism should be regarded as part of the Hindu tradition of methods and techniques. What about Jesus who Swami Sivananda's Divine Life Society claims had his training in India.

  • Yes, there is a lot missing. That is why it is called a "brief" timeline. YouTube limits files to 10 minutes, which is the length of this video.
