Thats just not true what you said there about gasoline and oil.

Obviously a lot of factors need to be calculated in. Much has changed since 1992.
For example in terms of performance, today’s 'standard' tires are equivalent to race tires from 20 years ago. Today’s oils are 10x more refined then 20 years ago, so are the fuels we use.
From these alone you can shed 1 second off your time easy. Don't forget, the 0-62 figures are usually the "average" set out from all the runs they executed. Another factor to consider. :)

but 1.3 seconds would be a huge variation to the official callout at times around 6 seconds... I don't think Mercedes would publish times that off...

1992-1993 = 6.3 seconds.
1994-1999 = 6.6 seconds.
In this video he touched 100km/h in 5.1 seconds. It is odd, but not impossible. Courtesy to popular belief, manufacturers do not hire the best race drivers to set the best time achievable. They run the car several times down a straight and calculate the 'average' time it took to hit 100km/h.

Judging by the cluster, this is a 1994-96/98. Which makes it the revised 394hp engine, not the 408hp engine which is only found in the 1992/93 models. Also, the 600SEL / S600 weighs 2250kg.

0-100 km/h in 5,3 seconds... The S63 AMG (2009) makes the 0-100 km/h in about 4,5 seconds!

@MercedesFUN1 No way! I have cls55 amg kompressor which accelerates in 4.6 secs, but its much quicker than s63. So w140 and s63 are about the same in drag on my personal experience
